Forums and Debates
To raise awareness and bring public and government attention to contentious national issues, BARAARO CENTER will hold major annual forums, and debates and podcasts. CSRD will hold two annual forums: Baraaro Peace and Security Forum (BPSF) and Somali Economic and
Development Forum (SEDF)
Baraaro Peace and
Security Forum
The goal of BPSF is to ensure lasting peace in Somalia by exploring novel approaches to peace building and conflict resolution considering the religious-based conflicts, violent extremism, and terrorism. Among other things, it seeks space for dialogue with extremists, tolerance, forgiveness, and countering extremist narratives. It also promotes security through humanity, forgiveness, and financial support to civil criminals, extremists, and defectors from AlShabab and other terrorist groups.
Baraaro Economic and Development Forum
BEDF is a multi-stakeholder platform for discussing the most pressing economic, development and other social welfare challenges in Somalia. The forum brings together experts for various government levels, academia, business community, international partners, and the East African Community. The forum presents research results, opinions, and government agendas on key economic, development and welfare issues in Somalia and the East African region to formulate shared goals, policy priorities, and reshape the existing socioeconomic policies and programs to enable an environment for inclusive and resilient economic growth and social well-being
Baraaro
Debates
Baraaro debates is an interactive platform for contentious day-today socioeconomic issues. It is an open platform that brings together the public, authorities, and academicians. The goal of the forum is to raise awareness and push for necessary policy amendments within the government.
